Vauxhall Corsa revs surging

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Variant: 1.4
Model Year: 1996
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The car starts ok but if I drive to the shops and try restart the engine it is difficult to start, When it gradually starts the revs surge up 3000 and keeps surges when you change gear. It starts ok when it has been stood for a few hours.
Any solutions

your idle speed control valve needs cleaning this is located on the side of the inlet and will need removing from the inlet and soaking in some petrol and clean with a brush but if this fails to resolve the problem then you will require a new one
