Vauxhall Corsa engine rpm increase when you change gear

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Variant: 1.2
Model Year: 2010
Categories: Leaks & Noises
When I change gear, put my foot on the clutch the engine rpm increases up to about 3000rpm. The vehicle has been returned, for the third time, to the garage where it was purchased with the same fault as the previous two visits. So far they have replaced the clutch switch, a new emu and the last time the fault was referred to Vauxhall Customer Care. They said that there was a glitch in the software and the car was off the road for 3 weeks. The software was upgraded but they kept the car for a further 1 week because they were not sure the fault had not been rectified. That was in December 2010. Now in Feb 2011 it is back in the garage again with exactly the same problem. I have contacted Vauxhall Customer Care again to reopen my complaint and taken the car back to the garage. The problem is when they take the car into the garage and hook it up to the diagnostic computer the problem does not show up. The car has to be driven to show that the problem is still there.
We were told in December that Vauxhall had identified 30 cars in Europe with this same problem. One of the replacement vehicles that I was given also developed this same problem and was promptly returned to the garage.
This is a safety issue that I think Vauxhall should be adressing.

Seems strange they cant find a solution to this fault , especially if they have known about it for a while and have info on other car affected .Maybe you could keep us up to date on this ? Very interested in outcome . Hope you get it sorted soon .

Hi,
We purchased a 10 plate Corsa SXI in Feb 2011 and it has recently started having the same problems you describe.
The problem seems to be intermitent but when it does happen the revs increase when the clutch is depressed (only when changing up). At the same time the cruise control stops working.
We have taken the car back to the garage but it annoyingly stopped doing it and so the diagnostic machine showed no faults - computer says no! We were advised to take the car back in when it does start again.
I have searched the internet and there seem to be many people with a similar problem but no solution. If anyone finds or knows the solution to this fault any information would be greatly appreciated.
