Vauxhall Corsa car not idling/strange noise when steering.

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Variant: 1.0
Model Year: 2000
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
OK, My first problem is that the car will not start without putting the accelerator down, and when it does it still takes a long time to "warm up" and idle - most of the time it just won't idle at all. That means it cuts out pulling out at junctions, at roundabouts etc etc - very annoying. I had to restart it every time I got to a set of lights the other day and it was in a town with about 20 sets. Nice.
I've taken it to the garage - timing chain was replaced, fuel pump cleaned out and MAF tested. Cost me £360 and it STILL won't work!!! Not only am I angry at the garage but I want the car fixed.

Now this week since I got it back it's started to make a strange noise when I'm turning - especially right. It's like a squeeling grinding noise and very worrying.

Does anyone have any idea what the problems could be and how much they might cost?? Many Thanks.
