Vauxhall Corsa re: ticking sound

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Variant: 1 L
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The Problem

The ticking happens on tickover and when driving about 30mph.
It's coming from a black box under the drivers side wing.

Suggested Solution BY jimbow2010

the tiking sound you can hear is normal it is called ur purge kit their is a canister under ur wing to extract the fumes from ur petrol tank and use them at highish revs to reduce fuel consumption as fumes r also combustable

Further Question

Should this be quite loud, ie loud enough to hear with the stereo on?
or does it need replacing.
do you know the part number?
