Vauxhall Corsa battery light

i was driving to work last night and my battery light came on,i checked the fan belt was working and it was!it started fine to get me home thn after a few hours i went to my car and it was completly dead any help please??

Hi it sounds like the alternator is not charging the battery.

This is what I'd do:

1. Check the alternator connections
2. Get battery checked at a garage
3. Replace alternator

1.7 Corsa I guess that is a diesel? You can prob get a decent alternator from a scrap yard. They aren't very cheap to buy new.

i have located the problem and as posted it was the alternator tht was knackered,does anybody know the price im looking at paying for a 1.7 corsa diesel alternator??

Best to phone various motor factors and compare prices , usually a lot cheaper than dealers .
