The clutch sticks down but you can lift it back up and all is ok for a while

Seen a few complaints with this happening , but no definitive answer . Whether it be a master cylinder , slave cylinder or internal clutch assembly fault , hard to say . Could try asking your local VX dealership if there is a jnown solution to it

A friend of mine is also having this problem and can’t get to talk to anyone at Vauxhall dealership so would love to know if you find out the cause

According to Haynes, it's commonly caused by insufficient grease on the gearbox input shaft splines; got the same issue here on an '08. I'm assuming this'll also apply to newer models.
Given all the stories I've heard of people spending hundreds on replacing clutch parts only to find the issue persists, I'm inclined to believe this could indeed be the root cause for most people.
The solution you suggest has nothing what so ever to do with a clutch pedal sticking down as any mechanic will tell you .If you knew how a clutch operates , you would realise that . The input shaft splines " fault " which is common on ANY manual gearbox has been around since I was a boy and involves the operation of the clutch centre plate sliding on said splines which is addressed / checked when anyone qualified replaces a clutch ..This causes a different fault all together

Hi did anyone get this issue resolved? My corsa is 4 years old and 21k miles. Had difficulty getting into gear and AA said clutch slave cylinder will need replacing (along with clutch). TIA

AA probably correct , especially if that car has a concentric clutch release bearing .

Change the clutch pipes. there is a inline damper on the clutch pipe below the battery tray. the modified pipes no longer have the damper valve

^ If that year still has the older pipe with damper and not already got the modified pipe ( not sure what year it changed ) worth a try
