Vauxhall Corsa eng management light and cutting out

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My Engine management light is constantly on and after 5 mins or so of driving it tends to cut out, normally it starts up straight away again, until the other day, had to get the RAC out to me and he told me it was the Fuel pump, does this sound right as there seem to be alot of people on here with similar problems, but with different solutions. Can anyone advise me as what the best thing to do is?

Thanks

Hi steve here my vauxhall had the same problem AA guy came out it was the crankshaft sensor fault came up on his lap top . Okay since new sensor fitted. Advised to fit vauxhall only part as the garage had previous problems when fitting aftermarket cheap version.
