Vauxhall Corsa engine management light intermittant / lumpy engine

As title, when I first start the car, the engine is lumpy and the engine management light comes on..... rev it for a bit and the light goes out and the lumpiness is reduced but still there (could be just a slow tickover)
Seems to me it could be something small, what should I check?? I am thinking spark plus, possible tracking on HT leads, anyone had anything similar before I take to a expensive garage, (short of cash atm)
It is my daughters car so I am only going by what she said, I went out there just now, started it myself (its already hot) it was ok... then it went lumpy with engine management light on.

Sounds like coil pack or egr valve
