Vauxhall Corsa replacement engine???

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Variant: SE 1.2
Model Year: 2013
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
While driving the car for less than 5 minutes, the oil warning light came on the dash and a loud grinding noise was coming from the engine. AA towed the car to local garage and both seemed to think that it was the timing chain. However, when the garage attempted to replace the timing chain, they called to say it was perfectly fine. They can't seem to find a problem and want to replace the whole engine rather than start taking it to bits to try and find a problem? Quotes almost £2500!! Any ideas what it could be?

Take it to another garage,
The oil light came on so no oil pressure and so any internal rotating part is suspect.
including the oil pump!
At the very least if I had the chain accessed I'd then remove the sump and check the pump and crank bearings.
If it's scrap then so be it but I'd say for another hour or two labour I'd find out.
Nothing actually wrong with these engines but lack of owners changing oil.
