Vauxhall Corsa advise more than a problem

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Variant: 1.0
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
hi people im after some advise. basically my mrs who doesnt drive yet has the chance of getting a car for nothing a 03 corsa 1.0. only thing is its been sitting outside for a while actually not sure how long but think it might be a few years. im lead to believe it hasnt moved in that time either. so im wondering if anyone would take a chance on this or get scrap money for it. for starters itll need 4 new tyres coz they probs well flat spotted. battery is well gone so cant even start it even to hear the condition of the chain. would anyone just get it started and put it in for mot just to see the things wrong with it or just leave it. im thinking of long term problems i.e brake pipes, shocks leaking, perished seals as well as servicing so this free car might become very expensive.

cheers

Well round my way it would maybe £60 IF "YOU" took it to the scrap dealer.
Not a heavy car so not much scrap weight,
And scrap prices are down,
Calling one of the many "We want your car" Geezers will result in a minimal offer or you pay them to take it away!
Me?
I'd call your usual garage that you know,
Explain the dilemma and see if they will recover it.
and asses it.
Make sure you explain your on a tight budget and gambling on an unknown.
I sometimes get these offers,
How it works is say £50 to recover and asses,
Estimate for arguments sake repair would be £250,
You either agree and get a MOT'd car for £300 or I offer you say £25 and waive the recovery/inspection fee and the cars mine.
A lot of smaller garages do this,
Of course if you get your mot's and such from Halfords and the like you will have to ask around

Good advice above , but could be a money pit after being left that long .
