Vauxhall Corsa corsa - jagged edge on interior door handle

Car: Vauxhall Corsa
Model Year: 2010
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Has anyone else experienced "peeling chrome" on the interior door handle of recent model (e.g. 60 plate ) Corsas ?

I ask because my passenger door handle is rarely used, as I usually travel alone, but at Xmas I had a passenger and when they went to exit the car they felt a sharp pain and next moment were bleeding profusely from a cut to their finger. On looking, the chrome was all "jagged" and this is what caused the problem.

I don't think chrome this new ( and especially used this little ) should "peel" like this

Vauxhall don't see a problem, or at elast not one that is theirs, so if anyone else has this experience I would be pleased to know - cheers

Hi, it might be worth reading thru some of the vauxhall forums to see if anyone else has a similar problem. It seems pretty poor for a car of that age.
An email to head office may also be worth while.
Sorry I can`t help further.

If it's that bad that it cut a finger and is peeling , should be subject to a warranty claim .

I have exactly the same problem, passenger door handle and also the chrome around the gear knob which sliced my hand open!
I replaced the door handle with one off ebay easy enough job to complete

I have a 2013 plate Black edition and I have the same problem with the chrome splitting away from the handle! the chrome is like a razor blade and has cut myself and my partner. for safety I have blacked tapped over the handle.

I'm not sure what to do either as I know Vauxhall will say "wear and tear".

I doubt I will buy another Vauxhall.

Yes, i have same problem with a 2012 vauxhall corsa. Cut my finger quite badly - lucky I didn't need stitches. Passenger door handle very sharp. Spoke to Vauxhall who say that this is a known problem with Corsas from around this time. Sent them details of my car but they say it is not one of those affected and thus they won't replace it. Seems a bit stupid as it clearly is same problem. Have always bought Vauxhalls for last 35 years but no more. What skinflints to refuse to replace a door handle at the expense of losing thousands of pounds next time I buy a new car.
