Vauxhall Combo remote central locking fault

Car: Vauxhall Combo
Variant: 1700di
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
hi,
i'm new to this forum, never heard of this site but it seems like its just up my street with the ammount of problems i get with cars ha!
anyhow, i recently bought a vauxhall combo 1700di 03 plate, problem is the guy who i got it from took his keys into an x-ray and when he got outside, the key was bent and therefor he stopped using it and used the spare instead. i straightened the key up and it starts the van fine so no immobilizer issues. i tried to code it up, done the usual vauxhall trick, key in ignition press lock, but nothing.
i assumed the key internals were fried so bought a second hand key from a salvage yard, swapped them over and tried to code up but had no joy, changed the battery but still nothing!
the central locking works fine so i'm quite sure its the key, but i'm probably wrong.
all help will be greatly appreciated!
thanks

Your van will have an immobiliser.

You can only program existing fobs via the method in the handbook. New / replacement fobs will need to be coded via Tech2 or similar diagnostic readers, and this is only for the central locking. You'll need to have the transponder chip programmed separately, again with Tech2 or similar. You will also require the Car Pass for the security numbers.
