Vauxhall Cavalier battery light comes on when engine is off

Car: Vauxhall Cavalier
Variant: 1.8 LS
Model Year: 1995
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Just recently my cars battery warning light came on when the engine is off and the key is out of the ignition but when I start up the car the light goes off. Im not exactly mechanically minded but I had the battery checked at Halfords and it was fine but the charge was low so I recharged it. This has made no difference. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like a faulty Alternator, thats why the battery charge is low. Get the alternator checked. Hiope this helps.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Could not find a loose earth so I took it to a garage. During the trip the light came on and was pusling and the ABS and airbag lights came on. Mechanic checkied the alternator and it had literal just packed up.
