The later models are best to go for (the '95 to '98 models) and the best engine is the 2.0 16v in my opinion. I think most of the V6's around are past their best and the four wheel drives are expensive to run and reapir

well where do you want me to start regarding problems they are a good all round car but they do have there problems but what car out there doesnt but if you are going to buy one then go for the x20xev engine thats the 16v 2000cc and make sure its got good service history stamp in book and the timing belt a must also the calibra are bad for rust around the sills and arches take a baby magnet with you when you are looking at these car and hold the magnet againdt the body ie arces sills and the sunroofs are common for not working and windows sometimes but remember history history history dont buy unless you have this and get a hpi check aswell

I used to work on these vehicles at a main dealer, the main thing is corrosion on the rear wheel arches and the floor pan near the front jacking points, I would if i were you go for the latest model you can find that still has the red top, not the 2.0 xev engine as it had less power, the older engine was fun, very grunty, or you could try finding aturbo model, they did'nt cause as much bother as one of the posters suggested

I strongly agree with mr fix it! We used these engines for most of our projects FUN FUN FUN c20ex and c20let are the best engines you will get and dont cost much to fix and are widely available ie: auto vaux and ebay, good luck
