When it breaks down and you switch on ignition , can you hear if pump buzzes or not .What about fuel filter ?

the car runs for about 3-4 miles through urban traffic (14 mins) 1st time aa checked it pump was buzzing then 2 nd time pump was buzzing then, he put a bit in to see if injectors were calling for fuel . that was a negative. then when he reconnected the cable (yellow plastic connector)no buzzing and then hitting the tank no buzzing. but when in the garage fuel pump csn be heard buzzing,

could be the crank sensor as this might cause it to fail after being driven then cool down and restart.the pump might run as you turn the ignition on but it might not as you crank the engine.do you have a spark at the plugs when the car wont start if yes then this would rule out the crank sensor because it would need that signal too to also switch the coils

it was the fuel management ecu or what its called they found that the wire that was a negative was turning positive on crank up but not switching off. they have bypassed the ecu or what its called and snipped the cable then ran it to a neutral terminal, this caused a light to appear in the shape of a spanner on the dash, but I can live with that untill i can afford the £1000.00 + for a new unit
