Vauxhall Astra faulty (nosiy) twinport inlet manifold

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: 1.6 Twinport
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi,

My engine has started raqttling really badly from the top, which increases with revs. Speaking to a mechanic, and online forums indicate that it is the inlet manifold, and specifically the butterfly flaps in there that recirculate the exhaust gases. Ive been qouted £400 plus for the part, plus the same for labour. Can this be repaired rather than replaced? Or can this twinport part be disabled without effecting the EML or emissions?

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the thottle body houseing rattleing. You can reseal this by removeing the top ecu and two water pipes. there is about 8 screws remove these and you will see aplate in the inlet houseing. remove this reseal and refit.
