Vauxhall Astra engine managment light on

put my car in the garage because it smelt of petrol whilst it was there ascked for it ti have a full service cambelt ect having driven it less than a hundred miles the engine managment light came on the garage told me the ecu had packed up it still runs but is lumpy the garage seemed to think this could be cured for about 500 quid any sugestions

if the engine management light has been on a code will be stored in the ecu have the code read by any garage not the same one and if they arnt that helpfull report bach with the code and we will have another look

After the work they have done on car , as " mr suzuki " get a second opinion and codes read .Might be advisable to get timing rechecked also .
