Vauxhall Astra engine failing to start

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: club twinport s-a 1.6
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I bought this vehicle with no induction manifold which I have now replaced. I cannot get the neutral light to appear on the display and therefore will not start. This is the semi automatic easytronic version. It looks like someone has removed the interior gear cover and could have an electrical part missing. I have had the engine running by crossing the starter bit it will not start on key. Does anyone have any ideas?

look at the base of the gearlever, there should be a switch on the base with a wiring connector on it,check the switch is working
