Vauxhall Astra engine goes into safe mode

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: Elite 1.7 Diesel
Model Year: 2007
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
My 2007 Diesel astra from time to time goes into safe mode while driving along, the speeds vary but the car slows as if the brakes have been put on. The car does not cutout completely but allows you to continue at little more than tick over. I have had the car put on a diagnostic but it shows no fault. When I turn the engine off the car resets and I can drive as normal.

Any ideas please ?

Thanks
