Vauxhall Astra astra cutting out, emmission control light coming on

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: 1.4 Enjoy
Model Year: 2005
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
At the end of my tether at moment, had my vauxhall in 5 times now at our local dealers, still under warranty. First time they replaced coil pack, 2nd time they said I wasn't it driving it properley (no different to the way I drove last 3 yrs) they said its a performance car (pmsl) & needs a good run now & then (which it does get), 3rd time they emptied fuel tank & cleaned tank & pipes out, fourth time they said the codes were not 'present', & now the fifth time its the 'I;m not driving it properley sticky valve syndrome. feel like I'm just getting fobbed off, they've now said that as warranty runs out this fri, thats it, but as its been an ongoing problem for 2 mths feel this is unfair. sorry to waffle but wanted to give as much info as poss. Only seems to happen when engine is cold, normally happens around 3rd gear, car judders as if in wrong gear & no power to accelerator. they have mentioned a misfire as one of the codes previously present, really would appreciate any help, have spoken to a couple of vauxhall owners now who have encountered same probblems
many thanks if you are still reading by now!!

just been told it has sticky valve, not the EGR valve, but valves 1 & 4, will need to remove the gasket & replace 8 valves, been told looking at about £500, caused by age (3ys) combined with low mileage

the emission control light can only be the lamba sensor fault but for the judder that you are getting have the dealers replace the egr valve and fit a egr valve blank gasket once this is done you should be hassle free but get as much of the other faults checked out as well before the warranty expires other wise its going to be expensive and dont take the car away from the dealers until you are satisfied with the car

is this what the dealers have told you because that is a rip of you can have all the valves replaced and be up and running for half the price they have told you by a independent garage and as you have said the warranty expires friday so it just wouldnt be worth having the dealers doing the job save the pennys and have a garage do the job for you but not the dealers

many thanks, the final quote was £720!! I rang back up & asked was it the egr valve, mechanic said no, valves 1 & 4 were leaking. i wouldn't pay dealer prices anyway, I just want to make sure the fault is not covered under warranty before I pay out, & that what the mechanic says is wrong, will defo fix the problem. Been told to keep the revs high, & use super unleaded, also heard another suggestion to use redex?

I would like to know how the hell they narrowed it down to those two valves, sounds like a load of you know what to me, and this vehicle is well outside the time where sticking valves were a problem on this engine, i would be tempted to say if it still has the occasional mis-fire that the coil pack that was replaced possibly damaged the ecu

cheers for your input mr fixit, I did ask about the ecu & was told that it was fine. mechanic told me valves 1 & 4 were leaking? I have put some engine cleaner stuff in petrol tank, took for a run up the motorway in 4th gear to give a good blast & fingers crossed seems to be ok, for how long though?!!

fingers crossed but seems to have done the trick, not had a problem since
