Possibly hydraulic tappet ?

1. It sounds very much like your tappets or the camshaft on which they move up and down on has lost its hardness and the tappet is running on the cast steel due to over adjustment.

2.The other could be that the spring on your valves have collapsed and the valve is bouncing up on down on compression and exhaust phases of your engine firing order.

3. Take it to your mechanic straight away before it gets worse or you could be paying for a piston, a camshaft and worse your belt slipping of and seizing up your engine.
