Vauxhall Astra exhaust smoke

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: 1.7dti estate
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
There is a plume of fog like smoke from the exhaust of my 1.7dti at around 1700rpm it can be quite noticable but soon clears. It happens if hot or cold and in any gear. Wether hard or soft on the gas. Car has covered 97,000 miles. Could it be egr valve?
