Vauxhall Astra failed thermostat

We were constantly losing coolant, engine fault message came up, mechanic says the thermostat has failed, whole unit needs replaced. It had a complete new thermostat and housing in May 2023 and also in May 2018. Is this a fault with Astras or have we just had bad luck?

If failing again in a year , unusual unless there is an underlying fault or a non OEM , cheap , foreign part fitted .
