Vauxhall Astra
astra 2016 k alarm sounds off, indicators not working + autobox interior indicator not illuminated.
Car: Vauxhall Astra Variant: 1.4 (k) sri petrol automatic estate Model Year: 2016
Astra elite nav auto 2018. Alarm sounded, no flashers, for about 20 secs, stopped and repeated etc. Ran the engine for 5 minutes and that stopped it. This happened shortly after I bought the car (2nd owner) in 2019. Dealer checked it and found no faults. It is a 45 minute drive to the dealer. Fault occurred again feb 2023. Research led me to think that the separate battery for the alarm (under one of the wings) was insufficiently charged. This could maybe result from multiple short runs not passing enough charge to the alarm battery Not conclusive, but a help.

First thing I would do would be carrying out a LOAD test on your car battery as a low voltage can cause this fault , probably needs replaced but could be other faults as well

Thanks -I'll be monitoring the 'rested' battery voltage for a while to see what's happening. It's the original AGM battery from 2018 so worth looking at even though only 9000m on clock. Proper cars used to have voltmeters on the dashboard! Lockdown didn't help & I've been doing predominantly very short runs for some time. I usually disable the auto stop/start to preserve the battery on urban runs.
For safety's sake I'd have to remove the battery for a load test - might not be worth putting a 5 year old battery back in!?

Your auto stop / start will usually not operate when the battery voltage drops below a certain level .
