Hi I have a lifetime warranty on a astra 2013 from new only done 60000 miles, but now there is something wrong with the gearbox. Vauxhall want £500 to strip it down and check which parts are faulty then they will tell me if it is covered by the warranty. In the warranty it says engine and gearbox are covered. And if the part is not covered I will have to pay £5600 for a new gearbox. All help appreciated. Thank you

Crazy price for gearbox and for stripping down to examine . All depends on wording of the warranty . A lot only cover if something breaks and all other faults are rejected as wear and tear which is often is the case . Once they have your car in and gearbox stripped down ,not a lot you can do and hard for you to check or verify findings or dispute . I think that gearbox suffers from gear selector faults . You could probably get a recon gearbox supplied and fitted for what they want to strip down and examine , but got to be careful if you decide on doing that who you deal with . You are caught between a rock and a hard place on this I'm afraid
