Vauxhall Astra gears dont engage

When changing down gears, the car will not go into any gear, so effectively car is in no gear when driving. If stop the car, take foot of clutch then restart, it goes into gear no problem. Intermittent problem so works fine when goes to garage. Manual gearbox.

Hard to diagnose intermittent faults . Strange it only affects gear change downshifts . You could check clutch reservoir fluid level , check for any sign of leaks at clutch master cylinder or it could be internal concentric slave cylinder or clutch assembly fault . If not doing it at garage , hard to say for definite .
