Vauxhall Astra boot remains locked
Variant: SXI
Model Year: 2000
New main battery replaced after long lockdown*. All doors function, manually and on key, but boot lock remains locked, with either vertical or horizontal of position of key slot. Manually, some movement inside the lock can be heard.

Lock should be in the horizontal position . vertical is 'always locked' position . You could try soaking with WD40 and working back and forth . But may have to go in through the rear seat and remove panel , then soak mechanism / linkage again .
