Vauxhall Astra central heater controls, entertainment section and screen intermittently turn off and back on again repeatedly sometimes affecting the power steering too.

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: 1.6T SRI GTC
Model Year: 2013
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & LightsSteering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
I've had the car about a year and occasionally the central heater/entertainment pod will just cut out, lights, radio and screen will just go off, then come back on again a couple of seconds later and do this repeatedly for several minutes. It has also, but thankfully rarely, cut out the power steering as well. It first happened as I was exiting a roundabout and I couldn't turn the wheel and had to brake sharply before hitting the armco barrier on the exit slip. It's done it about a dozen or so times since, but doesn't always affect the power steering. Has anyone come across this problem and found a remedy, or will I need to employ the services of a auto electrician?

I would get your battery and alternator LOAD tested . A low battery or alternator not charging correctly would give those faults .
