Vauxhall Astra intermittent start failure

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: H 1.6 elite petrol
Model Year: 2009
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi

Recently bought an astra elite 1.6 H/2009 model and after having it for around a month the car failed to start. It will pretty much start first time every time after being left over night but when driving throughout the day, if you turn it off you might not get it back on for the next 30 - 90 minutes. When it does fail, you turn the key, the dash lights up, fuel needle moves, no engine lights or anything and there is a click at the back where it sounds like it is trying to start but engine does not turn over at all. Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

Thanks

Rick

Possibly a sticking starter relay clicking / buzzing ? k9 according to this link ..But some of those cars suffered from faulty ignition switches but I believe it may have been earlier models .

it was the earlyer models that suffered as you say and i would check the relay and if the relay is ok i would then change the starter motor

Sounds like a possible crank sensor issue. if its not that it may even be a cim issue. this is under recall if you car is less that 10 years old and under 100k.

Have you tried a pedal test to see if it will bring up a code
