Vauxhall Astra noisy rear drums and shoes

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: 1.6 16v sxi
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
hi, just recently my rear brakes have started making one heck of a noise. its the same noise as when ur handbrake is jst holding ur car, that kinda metal creeking sound, but it only happens when im braking between 20 - 0. its not a constant sound either, its like its a clicking creeking sound, so not all the time when the brakes are applied.
the rear shoes are good nick according to a mechanic who recently did all my brake pipes and general inspection. any ideas to what to look at would be good, cheers.

Sounds more like a susp. noise , possibly rear s/absorbers , springs or bushes .Could also be some dirt /s*** in drums needing cleaned out .If you are sure it's the brakes need to get it checked out asap and check bearings at same time .

if your car has drums at rear sounds like they want striping down and checking the drums will have a wear lip on them and a build up of corrosion on outside which can catch on back plates you should also make sure hand brake cabels are not sticking causing binding of the brakes i would say to fit new shoes clean up drums take of wear lip or fit new drums slaken h/brake cable adjust up brake shoes and then adjust h/ brake cable
