Vauxhall Astra overheating, power loss and engine not switching off

I am puzzled that my 1.7 td diesel astra is still running after i remove the ignition key when the headlights are on, switch off headlights and engine stops, when driving and switch on headlights power drops within a couple of seconds and engine overheating inermittently - any ideas? New alternator fitted a few thousand miles ago, 160K on clock

Could be faulty ignition switch , also get alternator out put load tested .
