Vauxhall Astra rear nearside footwell soaking wet

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: 1.6 ski
Model Year: 2009
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Hi

I recently purchased this car

The back nearside passenger footwell is soaking wet.

There is no water anywhere else just in the footwell, nothing from the door card, nothing from the door sils. the water hasnt run from the front and is not anywhere else.

Any ideas what this could be. I find it quite strange that it's in one place and one place only. The majority of the water is more or less in the center of the footwell.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Kind Regards

Mike

Strip out the seats and carpet and water test it with a hose and you will find the leak.

in my experience dealing with vauxhall and opel cars a wet floor is usually caused by a pool gathering under the landing panel which is the area in front of the windscreen under the black plastic panel where the wiper motor is housed. This can happen when the water escape slots get blocked with dirt or bits of leaves. The well fiils up and leaks into the car under the carpets folling the flow of the floor. Sometimes the small seal behind the brake servo will cause the same problem. hope this is of help?

As " noelknowall " suggests , the bulkhead drains being choked or blocked is normally the cause but you tend to get the front carpet wet also . Cleaning out the drains wouldn't go wrong .
