Vauxhall Astra problem with electronics/ ignition

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: MK5/ H
Model Year: 2005
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I own a Vauxhall Astra 05 1.7 Diesel Mk5/H. I've had the car for over a year now and it has never done this before: when I put the key in the ignition (and do not switch the engine on), it makes a noise as though I have left the door open or the lights on (when I haven't). It's a beeping noise.

Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening?

IF YOU HAVE THE DOOR OPEN AT THIS TIME IT IS A WARNING TO TELL YOU HAVE LEFT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION.MOST VAUXHALL'S DO IT .VERY ANNOYING NOISE.

but the door is NOT open. The noise comes on as soon as I put the key in the ignition. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have a faulty micro switch which nowadays is usually part of the door lock .Sometimes if you pull door trim off and spray with WD40 it cures fault .

Just to be aware there are other sensors on the vehicle that could cause the issue if you check out your handbook ,there's also seatbelt catch amongst others depending on vehicle spec, you maybe better disconnecting item,s and see which one sort,s slough door is probably the most liklely.
