Vauxhall Astra dashboard lights

If fitted with a panel dimmer switch , check that is not turned down.

Have checked the dimmer, the lights are on until the lights are switched on.

Does turning the dimmer switch not alter the panel dash lights ?

Didn't notice any problem with the dimmer, can't check as my daughter has just gone out with the car. Any one know were I can get an electric circuit diagram. Are the Haynes Manuals any good.

Haynes manuals are fine . The dimmer switch may be faulty but very often it's just the switch that has been accidently turned downto the off position when switching on lights .

Possibly faulty switch pack on your lights.

Well egg on my face , the daughter has just come back, checked out the dimmer and as you told me the lights came back on. Thanks for all the help, if it comes back I will return, thanks again.

Actually my wife kept brushing against the switch with her bag every time she entered the car ,I ended up taping over the top of it to stop it happening.

When putting the lights on only the speedo and rev counter lights dont come on the dashboard. Had it to a mechanic and he checked the fuses. Says they are fine. The rear fog lights wont come on either. Dimmer switch doesnt work. Mechanic looked at it and says there is power going to the light switch. Radio, clock and heater lights work fine. Any ideas?
