Vauxhall Astra modified fuel tank more pipes than i used to have??

hi ive put up a couple of posts already but another simpler question...i have a vauxhall astra convertible a new fuel tank was required as i drove over something which pulled off my exhaust and punctured fuel tank..new fuel tank has come with 3 pipes whereas my old fuel tank only connected with 2 pipes....does anyone know how the 3 pipes connect or why there is an additional pipe now as we cant find how to connect it and it is definately the correct parts they have sent many thanks in advance

When you say three pipes do you mean fuel feed and returns or tank to filler neck ?

Fuel feed and fuel return ,other is what used to be the vent pipe but these days is run to the carbon canister tank,all fuel systems must be closed so no fumes,fumes are collected in the carbon canister and vented into the inlet manifold when engine conditions permit.

so would it be dangerous for the 3rd pipe not to be fitted then??

Yes the fumes are more dangerous than the fuel I would plug the pipe .

what do you mean plug the pipe??..he hasnt put the 3rd pipe on and has cut and taped up one of the pipes.
