Vauxhall Astra starting

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Model Year: 2005
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The last couple of days when we have turned the ignition key to start the car there is a clicking noise and then the engine will just about fire, but unfortunately this morning the engine hasn't fired and you can only here the clicking noise, the battery has now gone flat through trying the car, hopefully we won't need to replace the battery as well once it's charged as this is only four months old. We are going to get break down out, but I would prefer your valued opinions as well. Could we be looking at a possible starter motor problem? Any of your suggestions would be gratefully received

The clicking noise you can hear is a sign that the battery is flat, as this battery is only four months old i would say that you would be very unlucky to have a faulty one, but it has been known to happen. I would have the charge rate of your alternator checked as if it is not putting back into the battery what is being used it well go flat and possibly damage a new battery especially in the cold, also have a cranking test done for the starter motor as a faulty starter can draw too much current and deplete a good battery in ten seconds

Thankyou for your reply. The car is now booked into the garage, and we will be asking the garage to look at your suggestions. Thanks again.
