Vauxhall Astra engine will not start even though it has been in one week and they cannot fix it

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: manual petrol
Model Year: 1999
The AA informed me that it may be Camshaft senser so I put it my Garage telling them about this they then fitted above without any luck other than it starts for about thirty seconds but no more .My garage has now had my car for nearly one week now and they have been unable to fix it. My car has been serviced every year and has a lowish mileage, so can anybody help me with this problem

This could be any number of things causing the problem. You really need to take the car to a garage that has both the correct diagnostic equipment and the expertise to use it correctly. Replacing parts randomly is not the way to repair a fault like this these days. Your suggestion to them that it may be the crank sensor should not be a cue to just replace it but to look in that direction to confirm the fault.

could be many different reasons but start by making sure the engine warning light isnt flashing with ignition on this could indicate a transponder key issue if it it does flash but generally they would not run for 30 seconds but cut out more quickly.also make sure the exhaust is not blocked and causing the exhaust gas not to escape the engine so cause it not to run,try getting the spark checked to see if its constant if it is then you would be looking more to a fuel / air problem
