Vauxhall Astra loss of power and noise on higher revs/load

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: 2003 1.6 SXI
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi all, I have an odd problem going on and cant work out what it can be.
As of last week I have lost power, no real excelleration and on the higher reves normally around 2500-3000 a noise appears.
to discribe it would be if a bike tire was rubbing against something or something blowing.
its coming from the engine.
No management lights or codes.
car starts up fine, ticks over fine, can hear all pistons running fine.

I did have a rocker cover leak but this is fixed now.
does anyone have any idears at all?

Make sure that the cam belt cover is not catching the pulleys. Also check for any noises from the alternator or power steering pump. Also air con pump if fitted...

Thank you for the information, will look into this.
i dont think its the steering as the noise is only on acceloration under load.
and on tick over and neutral the car sounds fine.
the car is losing more power now, cant really get it to 60 as struggle to get to 3000 RPM
but still no fault lights.

As this has gotten worse over the week i have identified the noice if coming from the air filter box and it has a lot of rock to it.
If this had a crack around the mounts and was leaking air, would this cause a lack of power

Oh and I checked all the belts and they are fine.
