Vauxhall Astra engine dies when warm, only revving keeps it going.

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Variant: 1.6 manual
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
The car runs fine from cold; after about 4 miles, the car drives in surges, as if pumping the accelerator. If taken out of gear the engine will stop if not "revved" to keep it going. Brake & accelerator pressed then switch on, service light flashed continuously. Not tried when warm yet, sorry.
