Vauxhall Agila starting problem

Car: Vauxhall Agila
Variant: 1.0 (1000cc)
Model Year: 2000
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Starts ok from cold,However when it has been running then stopped for about half an
hour or 1 hour engine not fully cold it is
difficult to start, will not fire up straight away, after several tries it start
up but I notice the engine is ticking over
faster than usual and stays running on faster idle till I stop using it,then next
time starting from cold it returns to normal, when the fault occurs at starting
when it eventually goes, there is one of the
engine managment lights comes on for a short time then goes out, meaning there is know fault now the light that comes on is not the spanner one but the other light
indicating a fault, I suspect perhaps one of the sensors is not working.

thr problem you have is the idle speed control valve sticking hence the higher revs on tick over this can be cleaned but only if you now what you are doing with carb cleaner/injection cleaner but if you are not sure then have a garage do it for you or a friend that nows what they are doing if this doesnt work then you eill need a replacement idle speed control valve which can be picked up at any good factors or even the dealers that will ahve plenty of stock as this is very common

Your starting problem while the engine is still fairly warm will most likely be the crank sensor on this model and your idle problem will be a faulty idle control motor, it is not a valve that can be cleaned it is a motor assembly on the outside of the throttle body.
