Leaks & Noises
I have had a rumble on my front ((nearside I think) wheel for some time. It is intermittent but becoming much more frequent and severe. It comes on at a variety of speeds, in drive or in neutral. It is most obvious when gently applying the brakes, going downhill and turning right. It is similar to travelling over rumble strips and is felt throught the floor/feet rather than thought the steering wheel(as in the case of unbalanced wheels).
My local mechanic has replaced the roll bar bushes and the front dics and pads. The problem persists.
I am not mechanicaly minded. Can anyone suggest possible causes.
My mate has just suggested the lower swivel joint.

does sound like the ball joint like your friend says so i would do as your friend says and if the problem still persists then move on to the bearing as this can cause rumble noises but jack the vehicle on the near side so the wheel is of the ground and get hold of the top and the bottom of the wheel and try to move the wheel in and out if there is no movement then its not the ball joint thenget hold of either side of the wheel and try to move the wheel again this would eliminate the bearing and the tie rod end if there is no movement of course hope this helps

Have you tried repacing the top strut bushes? To see if they're worn, jack the car one wheel at a time and shake the wheel in and out. If there is movement in the bush (look under the bonnet above the front wheels) they are probably worn.

it sounds to me like you have a badly worn wheel bearing, you should jack up your vehicle and rock the wheel top to bottom you should feel movement and rotate it you will hear it is rough. Unfortunatly most garages cannot be bothered to service these vehicles propaly as regreasing and adjusting the front wheel bearings involves stripping down the auto locking hubs and then the use of rather large sockets for for lock nut and the the bearing retainer nut.

Sounds like you need to strip down the wheel bearing and inspect it. Could be starting to break up or wearing down. Don't think it's brake or suspension, more a drive problem.
