Toyota Hilux no acceleration

Car: Toyota Hilux
Variant: 2.4 TD Auto
Model Year: 1992
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi, need help.
over the weekend my car started to have problems, when accelerating it would get up to about 20-30 MPH then either slow down or just not get any faster, if I floored the acceleratior then the revs would got up to about 4000 and then the check engine light would come on.
Looking about on line a few website hav suggested a blockage in the fuel filter and simply replacing the filter will fix the problem.
Anyone have any opinions on this?

Thanks

Neil

it wont rev because its gone into limp home mode.
get the codes read in the ecu, any garage should be able to do it. that will point you in the right direction.limp home mode is a power restricting mode to protect the engine when a fault occurs.
