Toyota Corolla gaers

Car: Toyota Corolla
Variant: 2lr
Model Year: 1992
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
It has been parked for a year and four months, it starts but won't select gears at all; it selects when it is not running.

Checked the brake fluid,it's fine.
Please help!

the problem you are having is your clutch is not disengaging from the flywheel so that is why you cant get gears when the car is running but you can when its not so if you ask me it wants a new clutch kit fitting to the car or you could try to free it by getting the car warm and work the clutch but this might not work but worth a try

If the pedal feels like it is doing something then i agree with thomkas that the clutch plate is siezed on the splines and will not come away the flywheel or pressure plate, i have however over come this before by towing the vehicle in it's lowest gear with the engine off and the clutch pedal pressed, you will feel it when it releases

I agree with the other two, bought a car once been stood 12 months, bought it very cheap because of the same problem as you,and the brakes, but a short tow( as mrfixit said) soon worked,if a car is going to be of the road for while, start it up and move it a couple of yards, back and two, going through the gears, this stops the clutch sticking, and brakes
