Toyota Avensis power steering light shows and steering became stiff

Car: Toyota Avensis
Variant: T3s
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
My 2004 TOYOTA avensis with electric power steering. The power steering light just showed and the steering became stiff. I was told by a local mechanic that it's a fault from the power steering brain box.

Have you checked the fluid level?

Check the alternator charging rate and battery , if faulty it affects EPS

The model doesn't use fluid. It's electric.

Pretty sure it's electric but still uses fluid.
Go to You tube and punch in "Toyota avensis power steering fluid top up"

Some EHPS units did have a little fluid but apparently this one does not , like some similar other makes who use same set up .
