Ssangyong Korando
engine misses or stutters when driving also stalls out when at idle
Car: Ssangyong Korando Variant: 2.2D Model Year: 2021
Categories:
Engine & Drivetrain
Engine seems to miss or stutter occasionally feels like it cuts out for about three seconds then recovers. It has also stalled when sat at idle. No codes set. Currently in at a Dealers under Warranty. Anyone else had this issue? Dealer is still investigating, had it two days so far.

Don't know the mileage or service history ,but changing fuel filter would be an easy first thing and checking for any air leaks in fuel system , checking injectors also . Down to the dealership to diagnose and rectify at the end of the day and have to let them get on with it though not nice doing without your vehicle .

Not sure its down to bad fuel as it started with previous tank of fuel and has had a fresh tank of fuel put in and its got worse since then. It was serviced by Ssangyong dealer in March 2024 and current mileage is 15700. I am assuming they changed the fuel filter at the service but who knows, not checked the service sheet as that's with the car at the new to me dealers as my local dealer has changed hands an no longer a Ssangyong dealer. Awaiting a call from the dealer but think they are scratching their heads, third day they have had it in.

Could you please update the forum on outcome once successfully concluded / rectified ?

Yes will certainly update on what they find and hopefully rectify.

Latest update, they still have not found the cause of it cutting out, have carried out all tests suggested by Ssangyong Technical and it passes all of those but issue remains. They have a Ssangyong technician at the Garage today for another car and will take a look at mine to see what he finds.

Thank you for update . I occasionally had to call in factory specialist to our dealership to road test , check some cars for unusual problems that were proving hard to resolve . Often with good results , hope likewise with you .

My 2018 ltd korando is doing the same thing more of an intermitant hunting when idling and when slowing down at intersection.
Some times it will correct and sometimes will stall.
No codes presented at dealership.
They want me to spend 2500 to replace timing chain but can't gaurentee this is the problem.
I'd love to no what they say is the problem with yours.

Whilst awaiting results happened to come across a likely cause, same symptoms on a Youtube video here

I have emailed the garage with a link to the video, hoping they check out the fuel filter housing for bad seals after seeing this.

No update on this the Garage and Ssangyong are scratching their heads trying to find the cause. Will update me Friday or before if they fix it.

Fingers crossed they find something and you get your car back again .
At last a result, apparently the car decided to give them a code for Camshaft Position Sensor, they replaced that and it rectified the issue with cutting out and not idling. Not aware of the actual code they finally got but at the beginning of this issue my Launch Tablet didn't give me any codes either. I believe the original sensor began to break down over time until it failed altogether as I did get the occasional stall. Car now running perfectly has plenty of power on acceleration without any hiccups.

Strange it didn't have a stored code for Camshaft sensor . But not to worry , they got there in the end . Happy motoring and thank you for updating the forum , appreciated .
