Is it not still under warranty ? But have seen this happen before on different vehicles when non original manufacturers engine oil filters have been fitted .

Hi. Have taken it to ssangyong garage. They say nothing wrong. This noise is normal but I don't think so. Petrol engines only done 18000 MLS don't make this rattling noise on start up. Have had independent garage service it. Put 10/50 oil in. Oil filter ok. Not sure if manufacturers filter. Regards Rob.

Low-quality oil filters sometimes have a poorly designed anti-drain back valve that often doesn't work properly. I would double check in your owners handbook that grade of engine oil is correct for your vehicle . Not sure that is the right oil but without having a lot more info , could be wrong . You really need to verify it to be sure .

Hi thanks for reply. Garage mechanic said always used 10/50 in engines but some car makers recommend a thinner oil which causes problems. He recommends a slightly thicker oil. Will check on oil filter though. Regards Rob.

You MUST put the correct oil in your car , not what your mechanic says .That comment about manufacturers and thinner oil causing problems is , putting it politely , total B/S . Puting a thicker oil , as he recommends in todays engines is more likely to cause problems and often does . Not to mention , it can invalidate any warranty work on engines .If you think your mechanic knows better than all the car manufacturers as to what is needed / required for their cars ....................................
