Skoda Octavia starting problems

Car: Skoda Octavia
Variant: 2.0 Petrol
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My Octavia had sensor problems & they were changes - crank & cam, coil pack & plugs too. It then developed a problem whereby it wont start except if you "faff" around - unlock car, key in ignition, turn on & wait for dash lights to go out & if I try to start there is a clicking under the dash & it won't start. Still sat in the car-activate the central locking a couple of times, turn on and wait for lights to go out, open the driver's door & close, turn the radio on/off [any combination of these] and it will eventually start. Only once has the car misbehaved once running. There are no codes to download from the engine management unit and no other signs to help. The only constant id the clicking which comes from under the steering column area of the dash when it won't start. Can anyone help please? My local garage is lost for ideas! Thanks

Sounds like a sticking relay which you will have to locate by sound .
