Skoda Octavia auxiliary belt tensioner.

Car: Skoda Octavia
Model Year: 2000
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
As far as I can ascertain there has not been a recall for this problem.
Our local garage ordered a new tensioner and auxiliary belt. When the part did not fit and spoke to Skoda who told them that although the tensioner was the original from when the engine was built, the design has changed since then.
Has anyone had experience of this? What was the outcome?

Not with a skoda ,but it is common to have tensioners upgraded due to certain issues, have had this with other Marques .

Even though changed or modified , there should be a kit or otherwise to fit car . Cant scrap a car for such a minor part being altered .
