Seat Leon electrical, central locking, alarm, auto window control

Car: Seat Leon
Variant: 1.8 20VT Cupra
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My car is driving fine. A few months ago I had a problem with the alarm going off whilst I was driving along! Scary. Seat said it was an ignition problem and replaced it at a cost of £200. It has now decided to start opening the windows of its own accord with no ignition on and happily parked up. Very weired. It doesnt happen every time. Even more weired. The locking system also has a mind of its own and I can hear it coming off and on. I also suspect the alarm isnt working even when set. Seat tell me they THINK its a faulty control panel inside the drivers door - very labour intensive approx cost £500. Have you ever heard of this before and do you think the two faults can be linked. Any advice much appreciated.

the newer cars all have body control modules and these control all electrical itsruments ie central locking windows that sort of thing anyway have you had a auto electricion have a look it as this may be cheaper than the dealers

I have had these cars suffer water ingress into the drivers door control module before causing the same symptoms as you are suffering, other than that i would suggest the the body control module (known as the comfort system on VAG cars) is faulty.
