Some cars have a delay before lights shut down . If you have a instrument dimmer switch on your car , try adjusting the setting

Might want to check all grounds / earths , but may be a fault with instrument cluster also .

Thanks for the reply.
Only purchased the car for my son few days ago. Took it out last night for test drive noticed dash illumination was flickering. The dimmer was at minimum so put it up to max which seemed to help. When i switched it off dash came back on, flickering from high to low. Left it for 20 mins it was still on brightly. After a futher 30mins it had dimmed but still visible.

They do suffer from instrument cluster faults with the soldered joints , which is common but cant say for certain if that is your fault . Could also check alternator charging rate under load with a meter

Here is an example , best I can find at this moment

Try disconnecting wires at dimmer switch see if light goes out but as it is fed from side lights i dont think it will , as above reply i also think it will be instrument cluster , it could be just a poor connection at the cluster multi plug if not i would go for a dry joint on the printed circuit.

Disconnected dimmer switch. Dash still flickering. Even though its bright outside just now, I did notice backlight flickering without side or headlights being on?

Looks like instrument cluster fault on the printed circuit but check cluster multi plug first.
